The social structure of society, culture, ideology, level of technological development, trade relations between the countries – all this in one degree or another found expression in the costumes worn by people in a certain era. The suit itself, its history is a reflection of human development and human society.

Ancient contributed to the emergence of clothing as a means of protection against adverse climate, insect bites, wild animals on the hunt, from the blows of enemies in battle, and last but not least, as a means of protection against evil forces. Archaeological data give us an idea about the clothes and the lifestyle of primitive tribes, but also data on tribes still living on Earth in some remote and far from modern civilization, parts of Africa, Central and South America, Polynesia.

Социальное устройство общества, культура, мировоззрение, уровень развития техники, торговые связи между странами – все это в той или иной степени находило выражение в костюмах, которые носили люди в определенную эпоху. Сам костюм, его история представляет собой отражение развития человека и человеческого общества.

Далекая древность способствовала появлению одежды как средство защиты от неблагоприятного климата, от укусов насекомых, диких зверей на охоте, от ударов врагов в бою, и что не менее важно, как средство защиты от злых сил. Археологические данные дают нам представление об одежде и образе жизни первобытных племен, но также и сведения о племенах до сих пор живущих на Земле в некоторых труднодоступных и далеких от современной цивилизации районах Африки, Центральной и Южной Америки, Полинезии.

И нам не свойственно задумываться о подобных вещах. Есть версия, что именно в наборе подобных эмоций кроется секрет появления одежды. Но также есть еще версии как, например, изменение климата, абстрактный стыд описанный в Библии, Коране, Талмуде. Также современные исследователи психологии первобытных людей все больше приходят к выводу, что причиной появления одежды был страх. Страх оказаться голым перед лицом опасности. Именно этот страх, причины которого скрыты в глубинах нашего подсознания, и стал основой для появления одежды. Важность одежды видна еще из того насколько быстро (исторически) она развивалась. С такой скоростью развивалось только оружие, и вопросы, связанные с одеждой крайне сильно волновали первобытных людей.
